Services

Construction financial advisory, from the trailer to the back office.

Field and Figures Advisory provides four services to construction companies and owners: cost control, financial systems setup, project accounting and process review. Every engagement is scoped to the problem in front of you.

Cost control

Cost control for large construction programs

On a large program, money does not get lost in one place. It leaks through change orders nobody logged, subcontractor invoices nobody checked against the contract, and forecasts built on what people hope is true. We run cost control so everyone with a stake in the job sees the same number, and it is the real one.

  • Subcontractor change order and COR review
  • Change order logs and exposure tracking
  • Invoice audits against contract rates and terms
  • Schedule of Values and allowance management
  • Cost reporting and projected final cost
  • Cost control processes and procedures
You need this ifYour project managers, your accounting team and your owner are each carrying a different number for the same job.
Systems

Financial systems setup and implementation

Buying the software is the easy part. Setting it up to match how your jobs actually run is where most implementations go sideways. We coordinate the setup and build the financial workflows inside it, so the right people approve the right things, in order, every time. Lauren has led a companywide Procore implementation and a Textura rollout herself, so she knows where they go wrong.

  • Procore, Textura, Viewpoint, Oracle, Sage Intacct, QuickBooks
  • ERP setup and implementation coordination
  • Approval workflows and controls
  • Financial setup for new companies
  • Field-to-accounting data flow
  • Team onboarding on the new process
You need this ifYou are starting a company, switching systems, or paying for software your team works around instead of in.
Project accounting

Construction billing, accounts receivable and accounts payable

Cash flow on a construction job lives and dies on billing discipline. We set up and run the project accounting function: requisitions out clean and on time, subcontractors paid with the right paperwork behind every check, and AR and AP that do not turn into a fire drill at month end.

  • Owner billings and AIA pay applications
  • Subcontractor billings and pencil requisitions
  • Lien waiver and compliance tracking
  • AR and AP system setup
  • Monthly job cost and financial reporting
  • Owner and client reconciliations
You need this ifBillings go out late, subcontractors get paid without waivers, or nobody can tell you what is outstanding without pulling three reports.
Process and policy

Financial process, policy and procedure review

We go through how your company handles money today, from the field to the office, and give you plain feedback on what works and what does not. Then we write the policies, plans and procedures to fix it, in language your project managers and your accountants will both follow.

  • Current-state review of financial procedures
  • Written policies, plans and procedures
  • Roles, approvals and accountability
  • Field and office communication rhythm
  • Financial transparency across project teams
  • Direct, usable feedback for leadership
You need this ifThe way things get done depends on who is doing them, and it all lives in one person's head.
